• Second overall in the 2002 state tournament

Thomas was a starter on the Explorers juggernaut golf teams all four years …. They were state champions in 1999, 2001 and 2002, and state runner up in 2000.

Thomas was a huge part of that success ….. He finished second overall in the 2002 state tournament and also was second at the GMAC championship that same year …. He was the medalist in the 2001 regional championship ….

In all, Thomas was named first team All-Dade three years. Thomas claims that the greatest competition he faced during his four years at Columbus was the internal competition among his teammates.  It was a healthy rivalry and it spurred the team’s unprecedented success.

Thomas received a golf scholarship to Florida Atlantic University … where he played 2 seasons before turning  professional. He played professionally for four years …. Thomas played on a satellite tour with former Columbus teammate James Vargas ….. his career highlight was qualifying for the 2005 United States Golf Association Public Links Championship ……

In 2008, Thomas returned to school to complete his undergraduate education ….. He graduated from FIU with a degree in political science and a 3.9 grade point average. And, now, he’s gone one step further …. Presently, Thomas is a second year law student at the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law.
