Pedro Grifol (’88) – Baseball
Pedro played for two of Brother Herb Baker’s great teams. A catcher, he was a fixture behind home plate. As a junior, he helped Columbus finish 21-5 and win a district championship.
One year later, as a senior, Pedro was the most dominant player in Dade County. The team finished 27-6 and went all the way to the state championship game.
Pedro was voted first team all-state and the Miami Herald named him Dade County’s Player of the Year.
Pedro went on to star at Florida State University, where he played on two College World Series teams. In 1991at FSU, he was named first-team all-American.
Pedro played nine professional seasons in the minor leagues before being hired by the Seattle Mariners in player development and scouting.
Today, he is the Mariners Minor League Director.
Pedro lives in Phoenix with Ali his wife of 15 years. They have three daughters.
