Jim began playing high school football in the 7th grade when he played on the St. Theresa varsity team …. In ninth grade at St. Theresa, Jim was selected first team All-Catholic  …. As a sophomore, Jim played quarterback and fullback on offense and linebacker on defense …..  He was named Dade County’s All-Catholic most outstanding player ….

The following year – his junior year – Jim was named first team all-state all catholic …. As a high school senior, Jim started at quarterback in the first game in the school’s history ….. a 14-14 tie against Miami Tech.  ….. That year – Columbus’ first — the team finished with a 3-3-1 record.

At the end of the season, Jim honored Columbus by being named first team All-City ….. he was the first All-City player in the school’s history …..  quite an distinction  when you consider the names that followed Jim’s on that list. Jim received a football scholarship to the University of Miami. Today, he is retired and lives with his wife in Cutler Bay, Florida.
