Dan Wick is the the sixth member of the 1972 graduating class to have his name added to our sports hall of fame. Dan Wick was a standout in swimming for four seasons at Columbus.  His specialties were the 200 and 400 freestyle and butterfly.

He helped the school win its first GMAC championship in any sport in 1971.  The team also won district championships in 1971 and 1972 and finished in the Top 10 in the state both years.  Dan was named the top sophomore swimmer in Dade County and placed in the top 8 in the state all four years.

Not surprisingly, he was first team All-City four consecutive years in both the butterfly and the freestyle. Dan received a scholarship to the University of Miami. There, he competed in the 200 and 1,000 freestyle and the 200 butterfly.

After graduating from UM, Dan went into banking and today he works for the City of North Miami Beach in its Community Redevelopment Agency.

Dan married to his high school sweetheart, Alyson Kramer, a Coral Gables High School girl, and they have 2 children.
