Andre Simm was a senior in 1984 when he led the Explorers to the state tennis championship. And he did it in amazing fashion. Not only did the Explorers win the team championship but Andre Simm won the state Number 1 singles championship and then teamed with freshman Francisco Montana to capture the state No. 1 doubles championship.

The 3 state titles culminated a brilliant high school career for Andre – over the three years he played at Columbus, the Explorers never lost a team match.

Columbus acknowledged Andre’s greatness by naming him the school’s Athlete of the Year in 1984 – he became the first and only tennis player in the school’s history to be selected Athlete of the Year.

Andre won a tennis scholarship to Georgia Teach – where he played for 4 years ….. We was selected all-Atlantic Coast Conference in both 1985 and 1987. He sits No. 4 all-time at Georgia Teach in career victories in singles and doubles.   While playing for the Yellow Jackets,  he won 93 singles matches and 62 doubles matches.

After playing professionally less than a year, Andre entered the business world. Today, he is the General Manager of the Mexican division of Printpack – a company that specializes in manufacturing packaging products.  Andre has been with PrintPack for 22 years.   He has five children and he and his family make their home in Mexico.
